I was attacked by my Vision Board…or actually, the vision board may have been a passive participant and the bulletin board was the main culprit…it’s hard to tell. I’m thinking that the Vision Board was the instigator since my behavior while sitting next to my Vision Board was less than ‘visionary’. It was more like…counter-productive…since I was eating chocolate while mindlessly scanning Facebook…both of which are not really helping me meet my 2019 goals. I can also tell you that I have now used the term “Vision Board” more times in one paragraph than I hope to use for the remainder of the year.

Regardless of the overuse, however, I think Vision Boards do have a good purpose. There is something helpful about seeing your goals in front of you. This is where I’m thinking I made my mistake. My bulletin board was not in front of me but haphazardly sitting upon a bookcase to my left. I had to turn my face to actually see it…which may explain why I kept my eyes glued to the computer screen directly in front of me while eating the chocolate. Out of sight…out of mind…until your chair bumps the router that is holding the board in place. Then all hell breaks loose.

So…I gave the chocolate to my husband, who doesn’t have a Vision Board. It seemed safer. I have yet to mount the bulletin board directly in front of me since I believe in behavioral modification and the Vision Board needs a time out right now. I’ll bring it out of quarantine when my head heals. We will make peace with each other and I will make sure that I give it proper attention daily.

And eat my chocolate in another room.

  1. Haha! What is your vision board trying to tell you?? The good news is you have goals for 2019, Sheri. I haven’t set any goals yet even though it’s been on my to-do list for two months. I guess that could be my first goal: set some goals. Wish me luck! You can be sure I’m not setting up a vision board, though. I can’t afford another crack on the noggin.
