Savor the Moments

There are moments
When all is
Right
With the world
And our heart
Is at peace
Though
They may be temporary
They may be fleeting
Avoid
Wondering
When
How
If
They will end
Sometimes our peace
Is changed
Merely
By our need
To know
What
Happens
Next
Cherish the moment
And just
Let
It
be

Crooked Crowns

I’ve been told
To straighten
Another’s crown
When I see it all askew
But I have a problem
Straightening hers
When mine is
Crooked too…
Two heads are better
Than one I know
And with our crowns
Not in their place
When are heads
Are put together
They don’t seem to
Fight for space.
So lets put those crooked
Crowns to work
And not fight the imbalance
Mine may lean left
Yours may lean right
But together
We save the palace

I spent ten years as a single parent of three boys. I then married my wonderful husband and he was inducted into the world of boy raising. Now we get to add my peri-menopause to the mix! Its been a crazy life...one I wouldn't change a minute of....

  1. I get what ‘they’ mean by straightening another’s crown. The meaning isn’t lost on me. But truthfully, if I were to wear a crown, I would want it to be crooked. A little jaunty. A little off balance. A sign of life being lived. 🙂 . Happy Sunday!

    1. I know…me too. I like the sentiment of straightening someone else’s crown without making a big deal about it, but I’m like you. Mine would never be straight and would most likely just annoy the heck out of the women trying to get it to sit right!

  2. I have trouble wearing a hat for longer than half an hour (even when temps are below zero) so I’m sure I couldn’t endure a crown for long! Love your poem about it though, and the first one about savoring the moments is fantastic. It is so true that we can ruin a perfect moment by fussing about how long it will last. It will not last and that is the truth of the matter – why hasten its departure with worry?
